Nigeria: Award for Hearts of Hope Shelter

Award

The Lagos State government has decided to give an award to the Women’s Shelter. The reason for this is „the excellent response to sexual and gender based violence in the country“. The Hearts of Hope Shelter is very pleased to receive this recognition and award, as most of the women and girls who have come to the shelter so far are from Lagos State.

Skills Training

In September 2023, a skills training for 30 women from Ogun State, a state near Lagos, was completed – the third training this year. These are women affected by gender-based violence, women with disabilities and other vulnerable women. There were also sensitization sessions on FGM and counseling sessions with the women. This is the first time we have held the trainings outside Lagos State.
